About this place
One of the pleasures of Omi, an izakaya in Higashisuna, is that you can follow sashimi with chicken curry. One diner ordered a spicy curry with bone-in chicken thigh after some fresh sashimi, and enjoyed it as a dish that also worked well with drinks. Another meal included squid innards sautéed in butter, with the sweetness of the onion making a particular impression.
For Japanese favourites, pair amberjack sashimi or carpaccio and grilled fish with small plates such as pickled myoga ginger or tea beans. The menu also includes Korean-style pancakes, mentaiko spaghetti and baked curry doria, while one diner said they always order the handmade pizza. There is pleasure, too, in choosing a dish from the blackboard specials; one diner particularly liked the grilled spring onion steak.
Alongside beer, the drinks include highballs and Meyer lemon sours, making it easy to put together a meal centred on small plates or a more substantial dinner. Omi accepts cash only. It is an option for an evening in Higashisuna when you want to choose a few Japanese and Western dishes to share.
